You can now pre-order Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch 2 system. However, if you already have the digital version of Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch 1, you can get the digital Minecraft Standard Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2 for free in most territories by January 31, 2027.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game includes:

Vibrant Visuals* – Enhanced Lighting and Shadow Effects, which is also enabled content across Minecraft Marketplace.

Carry Over Data From the Nintendo Switch 1 – Your worlds that you have created can be carried over.

Includes Super mario Mash-Up Pack – You can explore a custom Mario-Theme world in the Super Mario Mash-Up pack, with Vibrant Visuals enabled.

*Vibrant Visuals are not available in some gameplay, including Split-screen when using certain Marketplace Worlds and content.

Cross-Platform play requires Microsoft Account. Online multiplayer functionality requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership (Sold Separately).

I have the digital version of Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch 1, so I will be getting the free upgrade when it’s ready. Are you going to be playing the Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch 2 version? Let me know in the comments below.
